Trails

The Town of Canmore presently maintains approximately 70 km of trails within the Town boundaries. These trails are utilized by walkers, joggers and cyclists year round so please share the trail and exercise proper Trail Etiquette when using the trail system.

Trexafe Trail Directional Signage System

Trexafe is a colour coded directional signage system located along trails and pathways throughout Canmore. The colour coded signage system takes you along some of Canmore’s best trails. The signs also show you the distance between points of interest.

  • Red Trail - Red signs and red markers (12.2km)
  • Blue Trail - Blue signs with blue markers (9.8km)
  • Green Trail - Green Signs with green markers (5.8km)
  • Yellow Trails - Yellow signs with yellow markers. Three different trails.

The markers are placed mostly on posts, garbage cans and bollards. They are just there to help keep you on the correct trail when other trails, streets or walkways intersect with the trail you are traveling on. Sometimes the colour is represented with an arrow indicating a turn. With the Trexafe colour coded system, you can travel from one end of Canmore to another following a specific colour or switching trail colours to get to your destination.

Trans Canada Trail
The Trans Canada Trail integrates and winds into the Town of Canmore’s trail system. Look for the Trans Canada Trail code in the map legend of The Town of Canmore Facilities and Parks Map.
