Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Canmore

Canmore was selected to host an electric vehicle (EV) charging station as part of the Peaks to Prairies Southern Alberta Electric Vehicle Network. The charging station is located in the parking lot adjacent to Miner’s Hall and be available to the public seeking to charge their electric vehicles. The Peaks to Prairies Network was initiated by three southern Alberta Regional Economic Development Alliances, the City of Calgary and the City of Lethbridge to create a regional electric vehicle charging network for Southern Alberta. 

Canmore has five EV charging locations:

  • ArtsPlace (950 8th Ave) – one Level 2 charger, free to the public
  • Canmore Rocky Mountain Inn (1719 Bow Valley Trail) – eight Level 3 (DC fast) chargers – Tesla vehicles only
  • Petro Canada (1731 Mountain Ave) – four Level 3 (DC fast) chargers – available to the public for a fee
  • Peaks to Prairies station in Miner’s Hall parking lot (718 7th Street) – one Level 2 charger and one Level 3 (DC fast) charger – available to the public for a fee
  • Shops of Canmore (302 Old Canmore Road) - four Level 3 (DC fast) chargers – available to the public for a fee

Charging Station Levels

  • Level 2: A Level 2 charger is a fast charging station and charges at a rate of 21 - 40 km for an hour of charging
  • Level 3: A Level 3 charger is a very fast charging station and charges 80% of the vehicle’s battery in 30 minutes 

The Town of Canmore is located within Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta. In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge the Canmore area, known as “Chuwapchipchiyan Kudi Bi” (translated in Stoney Nakoda as “shooting at the willows”) and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Îyârhe Nakoda (Stoney Nakoda) – comprised of the Bearspaw First Nation, Chiniki First Nation, and Wesley First Nation – as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation and the Blackfoot Confederacy comprised of the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai.
