Funding from Instrastructure Canada will help make it easier to get around Canmore

We're thrilled to announce that Canmore has received federal funding for infrastructure upgrades to support sustainable transportation projects.

The Government of Canada is partnering with over 50 Alberta communities to provide environmentally-friendly, safer, and more convenient transportation options.

With this funding, we will:

  • Install new bus stops to make transit more accessible.
  • Study the protected intersection for cyclists and pedestrians at Bow Valley Trail and Railway Avenue to track its impact on traffic safety.

These projects support our vision for a sustainable and accessible transportation system by making it easier and safer to move around Canmore. They align with our Integrated Transportation Plan goals to:

  • Reduce collisions by 10% annually
  • Increase transit ridership by 20% each year
  • Achieve a 40% non-vehicular trip share by 2030

Both of these projects are already underway to make Canmore a better place to call home. The bus stop improvements will be completed by the end of this year, and we expect to have the final safety study report by early next year.
