10 minute Response Time
The Alberta Building Code has changed to require some homes to use different construction materials and designs to improve fire resistance. Homes that are outside of the 10-minute response time must meet the additional requirements and either:
- be located further away from their neighbours,
- be “sprinklered”, or
- use different siding materials and have less windows in the side yard.
Details can be found in the Alberta Building Code in section A-220.127.116.11 under “limiting distances”
