10 minute Response Time
The Alberta Building Code requires some homes to use different construction materials and designs to improve fire resistance. Homes that are outside of the 10-minute response time must meet the additional requirements and either:
- be located further away from their neighbours,
- be “sprinklered”, or
- use different siding materials and have less windows in the side yard.
Details can be found in the Alberta Building Code in section A-22.214.171.124 under “limiting distances”
A new map is being developed and will be added here when it is finalized.
