The pathway across the CPR tracks is open for people walking and biking. Construction works, including landscaping and lighting are now complete.  Additional site furnishings such as signage, benches and bollards may be added to the site where needed.  Thank you all for your patience and understanding while we worked to deliver this project.  We hope you are enjoying the new pathway!

Past Project Updates

To improve accessibility, comfort, and safety of the pedestrian connection between Bow Valley Trail and the Town Centre, we will be improving the existing corridor to better accommodate people walking and biking, and allow for proper winter maintenance.

We thank you all for your patience and understanding during construction of this pathway. Here are photos of the pathway being used while it was still under construction:

Work completed through this project involves:

  • Widen the pedestrian connection through the crossing
  • Remove and relocate the existing garbage bins and fencing

  • Improve stormwater drainage
  • Install pedestrian lighting through the corridor
  • Shorten the crossing distance for people walking and biking across Bow Valley Trail
  • Improve landscaping and aesthetic of the area

The goals of this project are to:

  • Create a functional connection for year-round maintenance and use
  • Improve the connection between the Town Centre and the Hospital area
  • Accommodate the increase in user volumes
