PALLISER RENTAL AND EMPLOYEE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT (1451 PALLISER TRAIL )
The purpose of the Palliser lands project is to ensure the provision of new housing stock that can contribute to addressing the issue of available and affordable housing in Canmore. The project is intended to be private sector lead, with criteria that it meet the objectives of the Town, is profitable and sustainable. The private sector was invited in 2016 to submit proposals as part of an Expression of Interest (EOI) and a subsequent Request for Proposal (RFP) outlining their qualifications to deliver the project together with their proposed methodology.
Council approved the award of the RFP for development of employee housing and/or purpose built rental units on February 7, 2017, to NorthView Apartment REIT, conditional on the successful negotiation of the required contractual arrangements.
Council is the development authority and will make the decision on a development permit for the site.
WHERE ARE WE?
NorthView Apartment REIT has submitted a development permit application to service the site as well as construct building foundations. This application will be before Council for decision on July 4, 2017. NorthView Apartment REIT will require another development permit to approve other aspects of the proposed development, for example, number of units, landscaping, paving, building height, etc., which will be brought before Council on October 3, 2107.
This development permit application proposes a 148 unit multi-family rental and employee housing development.
