Fire-Rescue

Canmore Fire - Rescue Services includes both response and prevention as well as Community Preparedness. We serve a population of over 17,000 in The Town of Canmore and along The Trans Canada Highway. Canmore Fire - Rescue offers mutual aid services to our neighbors in the: MD of BighornMorleyKananaskis CountryThe Town of Banff and Banff National Park. We work closely with the Mountain Rescue Services of the Bow Valley and Rocky Mountain Parks.

In 2015, Town administration initiated a review of existing staffing levels and services through the development of the Fire Rescue Staffing Study, which formed Phase 1 of a two-part process. The Fire Rescue Staffing Study was presented to Council at the Committee of the Whole meeting on April 12, 2016.

Phase 2 of the process involved the preparation of a 10-year strategic Fire Rescue Master Plan to assess the existing fire protection needs of the community and plan for the future service delivery, community needs and department resources, programs and services. At the March 8, 2017 Council meeting, the Fire-Rescue Master Plan was approved by Council for planning purposes.”
