Canmore Recreation Centre Project

At the Committee of the Whole meeting two weeks ago, Council was presented with some significant modifications and reductions to the scope of the Canmore Rec Centre lifecycle maintenance project. These changes were proposed in an effort to keep the project within budget.

After receiving additional information tonight, council voted against increasing the scope and budget of the project to include a central staircase. However, council amended the scope of the project to include the addition of the ventilation system to support open cooking in the concession and increase the project budget up to $105,000. This will be funded from the general capital reserve.

The actual cost of the project will not be known until the project has been tendered and awarded. If there are cost savings at that time, any recommendations to include additional scope items will be brought back to council.
