This is a shovel-it-yourself event. Please:
- Bring your own shovel and containers
- Take no more than 100L (e.g. five 20L buckets or two 50L tubs)
- Staff will not be available to help you shovel, so we recommend asking a friend, family member or a neighbour for assistance if you need help.
- We recommend using multiple, smaller containers. Once filled with heavy compost, larger containers can be difficult to lift into vehicles.

Why it matters
We’re doing our part to reduce landfill waste and greenhouse gas emissions, but we need your help. 1/3 of our landfill waste is still made up of food scraps. That’s a big opportunity. Composting keeps organics out of the landfill, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and turns food scraps into a healthy soil enhancer.
