Housing Action

  1. Tourist Home Conversions
    After hearing from the public, council approved Land Use Bylaw Amendment 2024-30 - Tourist Home Conversions, which allows existing Tourist Homes to be converted to residential use without obtaining a development permit.
  2. Canmore Community Housing Off-site Levies in Palliser
    Council granted an exemption from Policy PD-001 (Collection of Levies and Fees Policy) for Canmore Community Housing, allowing them to pay off-site levies for their development at 100 Palliser Lane in three installments: upon issuance of an Occupancy Permit, and at the one and two-year anniversaries of receiving the Occupancy Permit.

Teepee Town Right of Way Pilot Project

Today, Council approved the sale of the parcel of land in Teepee Town created by Road Closure Bylaw 2024-17 for the amount of $480,000, and directed the proceeds of that sale to Canmore Community Housing for the purpose of advancing their Palliser lands development portfolio. 

Waste Water Treatment Plant Odour Control Construction

Council approved a scope change and budget increase (from $2M to $2.6M) funded from the Wastewater utility reserve, for the next phase of odour control work at the Waste Water Treatment Plant. The next phase of work will start ASAP, with the goal of the system being in place prior to peak summer temperatures in 2025.

Council also:

  1. Approved a new 2024 capital project for a FireSmart review of municipal documents funded in full by the Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta (FRIAA) grant.
  2. Appointed the Municipal Election returning officers.
  3. Approved the Rocky Mountain Heritage Foundation Co-ownership Agreement, formalizing roles, responsibilities and cost sharing of paid parking revenue at Quarry Lake.
