June is Recreation and Parks Month

Date posted:

To help celebrate the spirit of play and to encourage our residents to try or check our programs and facilities, we have planned a series of FREE activities for you to enjoy.

For a complete list of activities, visit our online calendar.

Here are some highlights for Recreation and Parks month:

Active Family Play: this program is a gross motor, parent-led program for families and caregivers with children 0 - 6 years old. Join us at the Canmore Recreation Centre for a busy morning filled with movement and free play opportunities in our open studio filled with preschool aged equipment and toys.

Family Pickleball: bring your whole family to try this low impact, high enjoyment racquet sport, no experience required. This game has an exciting blend of badminton, tennis, and table tennis elements. It’s played on a badminton-sized court using rectangular paddles and a perforated plastic ball. You can play the game in singles or doubles depending on the number of players present.

Physical Literacy Play: did you know the library lends out Physical Literacy Kits? What does that mean? You can take out a kit to play soccer, bocce, croquet and more. Come by the Elevation Place plaza (or program room in the library if it is rainy) to try out a kit and learn more about physical literacy. Recreation and library staff will be present ready to play gross motor games and chat about how to become more physically literate.
