2024 Property Assessment Overview

Committee of the Whole received an update on 2024 property assessments. Total assessment values for 2024 across town are approximately $13 billion, up from approximately $11.8 billion in 2023, which is attributed to both growth and change in assessment values. The average year over year assessment change for a residential property is a 7.7% increase and 9.7% for a non-residential property.

The assessed value of your property is used to determine your share of municipal property taxes and your share of provincial education taxes. An increase in assessed value does not automatically result in additional municipal taxes, it is dependent on how much your house changed compared with the rest of the community.
