Emergency Advisory Committee

Responsibilities

The Municipal Emergency Advisory Committee reviews the Municipal Emergency Management Program and related plans annually and provides guidance and direction to Canmore's Municipal Emergency Management Agency. In addition, during an emergency or disaster the committee is authorized to declare, renew, or terminate a state of local emergency and carry out all of the local authority’s powers and duties under the Act.

Meetings

The committee shall meet, at a minimum, once per year. Meeting dates, times, and locations will be advertised on this calendar with a minimum 24 hours notice. Meeting are held in public except where authorized by the Municipal Government Act to close a meeting to the public.

Members

The committee consists of the mayor, who is the chair of the Committee, one member of council appointed at council’s annual organizational meeting, and in the event a declaration of a state of local emergency is required and neither committee member is available, the first member of council who is present. Current members are:
