Larch Outdoor Rink Closed for Repairs

Canmore maintains a series of ice surfaces located throughout the community for residents to enjoy. Please note that all our outdoor rinks are closed for the 2024 season. See you next year!

Corner of Elk Run Blvd. and Canyon Road

  • This surface is approximately 23m x 33m
  • Appropriate for all age groups
  • Allows sticks and pucks
  • This ice surface will be monitored daily and flooded as ice conditions dictate. 

Amenities:

  • Portable washroom on site
  • Lights for night use are on until 10 p.m.
  • Washroom across bridge 300m away
  • Players box
  • Parking

Open space off Rundle Crescent

  • This surface is approximately 12m x 40m
  • Appropriate for toddlers and young children
  • There are no lights or washrooms at this site
  • This ice surface will be monitored weekly and flooded as ice conditions dictate.

Amenities:

  • Playground adjacent to surface

Green space on the east end of Lawrence Grassi Ridge & Wilson Way

  • This ice surface is approximately 15m x 20m 
  • Appropriate for toddlers and young children
  • There are no lights or washrooms at this site 
  • This ice surface will be monitored weekly and flooded as ice conditions dictate

  • Ice Surface
  • Playground adjacent to surface
  • Benches
  • Roadside parking only

Located on 1200 17 Street

  • This surface is approximately 25m x 55m.   
  • Appropriate for all age groups allowing sticks and pucks. 
  • This ice surface will be monitored daily with ice building and patch filling as ice conditions dictate 

Amenities:

  • Lights for night use until 10 p.m.
  • Washrooms located on site without running water

Located on 7 Avenue at Mallard Alley (just two blocks from Main Street)

  • The surface is approximately 100m X 60m. The pond is appropriate for all age groups and is ideal for families.
  • This surface is the number one priority for the Parks Dept. maintenance program.
  • Ice maintenance occurs daily with ice building and patch filling when necessary and flooding with the resurfacer 3-5 times per week (weather dependent).

Amenities:

  • Lights for night use until 10pm
  • Open style gazebo with benches, sign board and thermal heating
  • Garbage cans
  • Portable washroom and washrooms with water located at the Information Centre on 7 Ave Small parking lot and roadside available, as well as downtown parking lots less than 100m away

3100A Stewart Creek Drive - located on the basketball court

  • The surface is approximately 25m x 55m.
  • Appropriate for all age groups
  • There are no lights at this location
  • No sticks or pucks at this location
  • This ice surface will be monitored and maintained as ice conditions dictate.
