Notice of Construction at the Cemetery

Beginning June 5, we will commence construction at the cemetery to enhance the landscaping, install new benches, and add a columbarium. We are committed to preserving the tranquility of this sacred space, but please be aware that there may be some noise and disruptions throughout the summer.

We understand the importance of this sanctuary for quiet reflection, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused during your visit. To minimize disruptions, we are coordinating closely with the funeral home to ensure that construction does not interfere with any services.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to improve this space for the community.

Cemetery Services

The Canmore Cemetery is located on Palliser Trail.

The Cemetery has plots available for in ground interments and a Columbarium. A Columbarium is an above ground granite structure which allows for the placement of cremated remains in a niche. Each niche is capable of holding two urns.

There are two Field of Honour sections. We are now selling plots in our newest section, West Section H.

Our historic section is untouched and dates back to the early 1800s. It is located behind the Columbarium. It is open to the public.

For any inquiries please contact: Parks/Cemetery Coordinator at 403.678.1599 or cemetery@canmore.ca

Columbarium at Full Capacity

Our Columbarium has reached its maximum capacity. As a result, we regret to inform you that we are unable to accept any new applicants until the completion of our new Columbarium, scheduled for mid-late 2024. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding during this time. We will update this page regarding the availability of new applications once the new Columbarium is in place.
